MORECAMBE FC’s OVER 50’s TOURNAMENT

On Friday Morecambe FC’s over 50’s Walking Football had their first competitive outing against Halton & Northern Lights (Liverpool).
Morecambe’s Walking Football was first set up 18 months ago. Sessions currently take place every Monday, Wednesday & Friday led by Morecambe FC Community Sports.
The sessions focus on offering fun, active & social football for men & women who may not be able to play the sport elsewhere. The slower pace and non contact version of the game means it is inclusive for all. Currently being offered for over 50’s.
Morecambe, Halton and new friends, Northern Lights from Liverpool, (many of whom suffer with Parkinson’s) attended to showcase what football is all about.
Forty players in total took part. A friendly atmosphere followed by refreshments meant the day was a huge success. There was also a visit from the League 2 Play Off Trophy which Morecambe FC recently won at Wembley.
The newly appointed Mayor and Mayoress of Lancaster were also in attendance to congratulate the players and hand out medals to all.
