Community JOGLE Has Great Success

Morecambe FC’s Community fundraising challenge had great success throughout December. A small team at the football club challenged themselves to run, walk or cycle a target distance during 5 weeks.

The aim was to cover the distance from John O Groats to Land’s End as the crow flies which is 603 miles. Overall the group smashed it over the 5 week period covering 618 miles and raising £520. The distance covered by each individual taking part was as follows:

  1. Martin Powell 196.3 miles
  2. Nathan Briggs 132 miles
  3. Steve Wright 94.2 miles
  4. Zoe Fraser 65.3 miles
  5. Michael Stringfellow 63.1 miles
  6. Jodie Assitt 40 miles
  7. Jack Preston 27.1 miles

Fundraising for RLI

The £520.00 raised has gone directly to RLI. These funds will play a vital role in the Children’s Ward department where two new IPads will be purchased for patients to use. Usually we would visit the Children’s Ward with the first team squad to hand out presents and spread some festive cheer. However due to COVID-19 restrictions that was not possible.

Although, it was great to see an alternative way in which we could help out our overstretched health service and show our appreciation for their hard work throughout the pandemic. We also show our gratitude to all those that donated towards the fundraiser.

It was a positive note to end 2020 on. A year which was certainly full of surprises. We will continue to support our local hospital as a community club, offering our assistance where needed.
