Meet the Trustees

Our trustee team is made up of a number of volunteers who have either opted in independently or via another organisation such as the Shrimps Trust or Morecambe Football Club. They carry a range of skills to help oversee the work of Community Sports.

Derek Quinn

Trustee

A journalist and communications professional with over 30 years of experience including the police and the NHS. As a journalist, I have worked for local, regional, and national media outlets and have worked as a freelance broadcaster for the BBC for more than 25 years.

David Brayshaw

Trustee

David is MD of local business Aqua Engineering. He is actively involved in community projects for the improvement of his hometown of Morecambe and is a lifelong football fan.

Ben Sadler

Morecambe Football Club CEO

I have previously assisted in establishing and developing a community trust at another EFL club, so understand the challenges and opportunities that can be exploited through the Charity, and the impact that the Charity has on the people in our area. I can act as a link between Club and Community Sports, ensuring that our resources are shared appropriately to maximise the output of both bodies.’

Carla Brayshaw

Carla is Owner/ Director of Aqua Engineering Systems, Trustee of Morecambe Carnival and an active community ambassador for Morecambe.

Rod Taylor

Morecambe Football Club Co-Chairman

A Sandgrown’un and a lifetime Shrimps fan. Director of Morecambe FC since 1994. MD of Morecambe Care Ltd, providing residential care for 100 vulnerable individuals across 4 homes in Morecambe, and a Director of TMH: The Morecambe Hotel, between these two businesses we employ around 120 people locally.

Stephen Wright

Chair of Trustees

Our Chair, Director, and owner of a prominent local firm of solicitors, member of the Morecambe BID Steering Committee, and trustee of Morecambe Sparkle CIC. In the past has also been a Director of Morecambe Football Club, a junior football coach, a founding trustee of an educational charity, and Chair of Governors of one of the largest primary schools in Lancashire.

Robert Ellis

Trustee

Co-opted to Community Sports via the Shrimps Trust (The Morecambe FC Fans Trust).

With a career in marketing, design and digital businesses, Supports the charity with all aspects of digital communications, marketing, and branding.
